As much as I like to use a protein bar as a quick meal or snack when out and about, I usually find that unless I have at least two of them to actually still even a remote feeling of hunger. Several of my favorite protein bars in terms of taste and nutritional values only come in sizes around the 60 gram mark – and that’s just too tiny for a 220 pound guy like me most of the time.
Luckily, I think I’ve now found a solution to the problem: the Ironcore Chunk of Protein bar. This bar weighs a full 100 grams, comes with roughly 30 grams of protein, 40 grams of carbohydrates, 15 grams of fat and more than 400 calories total. That’s almost twice the amount of calories I’ll usually get from a protein bar, and since I’m not on a diet I’m very happy with that. I can take big bites of these things and not worry about the thing being gobbled up in mere seconds.
What I really like about this bar is the taste, though. This is a rich, full tasting protein bar that actually seems to please my taste buds more than most regular chocolate bars.
Milk chocolate coating 19% (sugar, coca butter, whole milk powder, cocoa mass, emulsifier (soy lecithin), flavoring, milk protein, caramel 11% (sweet condensed milk, glucose syrup, vegetable oil, sugar, caramellised syrup, emulsifier, salt, aroma), inverted sugar syrup, almonds (8,4%), stabiliser (glycerol), hydrolysed gelatine, hydrolyzed wheat gluten, soy protein, soy granules, flavoring, salt.
There’s one drawback to this product…
I like it too much! I buy a box of these things (15 pcs) and go through it in just a few days, because I just love the taste. The Ironcore Chunk of Protein bar has become somewhat of a staple of my personal diet, and that’s really not a good thing. Protein bars are not meal replacement products, so I guess I need to get a little more disciplined and stick to real foods most of the time. When I’m out and about, though, I’ll keep one of these handy. It’s quickly become perhaps my favorite protein bar.
Ironcore Nutrition is a fairly new brand, owned by Proteinfabrikken, whose Oxygen Protein bar was also a hit with us when we reviewed it some time ago. Check that out if you’re after a sweet treat that doesn’t pack the punch that this one does in terms of calorie count.
